Enjoyed your talk. For many years I’ve been drawn to Buddhism, but kept short of practicing until I found the Pure Land tradition (an out growth of Shin). That was where I put my cushion down and found a home. The attraction was an ability to comprehend the teachings and put them in use however imperfectly. I resonate with the teaching that honoring the dharma is observing our behaviors (ego?) and learning what is a misstep, correcting when we can and forgiving ourselves for our imperfections. I don’t think, as you said, that we need to be punished or shamed - but make it a teachable event.
Your sharing on meditating very much hit home. I was trying to find words for those times when in-site is offered, relief is received or a heart felt wish manifests. I can’t name it I just know it exists and through your sharing I deepened my understanding. Thank you 🙏🪷
